Andrew “Andy” Cooper is the Vice President and Head of Legal for UPS Airlines. UPS Airlines is the 9th Largest Airline in the world and the 3rd largest cargo airline with over 20,000 employees.
Andy began his legal career as an intellectual property attorney in the patent group of Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P. specializing in telecommunications and software technology. In 2015, Andy joined the UPS Corporate Legal Department and in 2018 assumed his current role. He is a named inventor in the U.S. Patent No. 10,586,201 covering “Methods for Landing An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle”.
Andy has been recently recognized by Lawyers of Color 40 Under 40 (2013), National Black Lawyers Top 100 (2015), Emory University 40 Under 40 (2017), Louisville Business First 40 Under 40 (2019), and is an alumni of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and LEAD Atlanta fellowships. Andy serves on the Board of the Lincoln Foundation, a charitable organization focused on education related outcomes in underserved communities and the Harvard Debate Council Diversity Project. He is a graduate of George Washington University (Economics) and Emory University School of Law and lives in Prospect, Kentucky with his wife and law school sweetheart, Latrese, and their 2 year old daughter, Claudia Rose.
